The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) - Welding Procedure Specialist serves as the company's subject matter expert for welding standards and procedures within the Quality Department. This role ensures welding practices comply with code, customer, and company requirements by developing and maintaining Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), supporting and creating Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and Welder Performance Qualifications (WPQ), and certifying welders. The position provides cross-functional support by working closely with Engineering, Production, and Training personnel to ensure welding standards and practices are aligned with the company's overall Quality Management System (QMS).Read on to fully understand what this job requires in terms of skills and experience If you are a good match, make an application.*Essential Functions:*Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Develop, write, and maintain WPS in compliance with applicable codes (AWS, ASME, API, etc.)* Manage and oversee PQR and WPQ.* Certify welders to company standards and maintain welder continuity records.* Serve as the subject matter expert for welding standards and lead development of internalstandards to ensure consistency across all plants.* Work closely with Engineering to ensure weld design aligns with code and manufacturingrequirements.* Partner with Production leadership to resolve welding-related issues and support processimprovements.* Collaborate with the Quality team to embed welding compliance within the QMS, supportcorrective actions, and provide expertise for customer audits.* Support Training personnel in developing and delivering training programs consistent with established WPS.* Conduct internal audits of welding processes to verify adherence to WPS and code requirements.*Qualifications and Experience:*To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.* AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent qualification/experience in demonstratingthe ability to interpret and apply welding codes is required.* Minimum seven (7) + years of hands-on welding or welding inspection experience in anindustrial or manufacturing environment.* Demonstrated experience writing and qualifying WPS and managing PQR/WPQ documentation.* Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, or other relevant welding codes.* Ability to independently interpret code requirements and apply them to shop practices.* Proficiency in multiple welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW).* Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.* Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:*The successful candidate should:* Expert knowledge of welding processes, codes, and standards.* Ability to develop, qualify, and implement WPS independently with minimal guidance.* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for welding related issues.* Capable of certifying welders and ensuring long-term compliance with standards.* Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Production, Quality, and Training teams.* Strong organizational skills to manage multiple procedures, certifications, and compliancerecords.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Strong understanding of QMS systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent) and ability to align weldingprocedures with company quality standards.*Education Requirements:** High school diploma or equivalent is required* Completion of a certified welding program or technical training required.* AWS CWI certification preferred by not required IF candidate demonstrates provenexperience in procedure writing.* Additional technical certification in welding processes is highly preferred.*Physical Demands:*The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
