*POSITION SUMMARY*Read the overview of this opportunity to understand what skills, including and relevant soft skills and software package proficiencies, are required.The Lead Truck Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the truck and fleet maintenance shop while remaining hands-on with repairs and diagnostics. This role ensures that all company vehicles are maintained in a safe, compliant, and road-ready condition in accordance with DOT regulations. The Lead Mechanic supervises shop operations, maintains records, coordinates inspections and repairs, and provides technical leadership to support fleet reliability and uptime.This position follows a Monday-Friday schedule; hours may vary based on truck availability, breakdowns, and repair needs, and flexibility is required to support ongoing repairs and operational demands.*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**Supervision & Shop Oversight*· Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient shop environment· Oversee daily shop workflow and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime· Ensure accurate record keeping of all maintenance, repairs, inspections, and DOT-required documentation· Manage parts inventory, ordering, stocking, and vendor coordination· Ensure shop cleanliness and proper storage of tools, parts, and equipment· Communicate repair status and fleet readiness to the Operations Manager*Fleet & Vehicle Maintenance*· Perform hands-on maintenance, repair, and diagnostics on heavy-duty trucks, heavy equipment and cars and light trucks· Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel engines· Perform air brake system inspection, repair, and adjustment· Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems· Perform hydraulic system repairs· Perform welding and fabrication work (MIG welding)· Perform preventative maintenance and corrective repairs*DOT & Compliance Responsibilities** Ensure fleet compliance with all DOT and FMCSA requirements* Maintain inspection, maintenance, and repair records required by DOT* Coordinate and prepare vehicles for DOT inspections* Ensure compliance with brakes, lighting, tire, and safety standards* Support compliance with CDL, inspection, and safety regulations*Leadership & Communication*· Act as the technical lead for fleet maintenance operations· Provide guidance, instruction, and oversight to mechanic or helper (if applicable)· Work closely with Truck Driver Lead to schedule repairs and inspections· Identify maintenance trends and recommend preventative actions*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*· Class A CDL (required)· Mechanical certification (diesel, heavy equipment, or equivalent trade certification)· DOT-required certifications and knowledge applicable to fleet maintenance· xijylhu Proven experience with:o Heavy-duty diesel engine repair and diagnosticso Air brake systemso Electrical diagnostics and repairo Hydraulic systemso Welding and fabrication (MIG)· Strong understanding of DOT inspection and compliance requirements· Ability to work independently and manage shop operations*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*· Air Brake certifications· Prior supervisory or lead mechanic experience· Experience maintaining mixed fleets (trucks, equipment, light vehicles)· Familiarity with maintenance software or record-keeping systemsPay: $35.00 per hourBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Employee assistance program* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Retirement plan* Vision insuranceWork Location: In person
