Job DescriptionJob DescriptionMANUFACTURING ENGINEERINGPlease read the following job description thoroughly to ensure you are the right fit for this role before applying.Job Summary:The Manufacturing Engineer supports new programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and developing production controls.  Responsible for the design of production tools and/or machines and for developing solutions to production problems relating to materials, processes, shop floor routing and tooling.  Incorporates all the production related aspects Engineering Change orders (ECOs) and revision changes dictated by the customer.  Works with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering on priorities and implementation of improvement projects.  Functions:Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new programs; supervises their assembly and proofingDesigns tools and/or machines of varying types (some of complex nature) for use in the manufacture of company productsDetermines and reviews all manufacturing processes for cost effectiveness and feasibility, both before and after engineering releases to manufacturingCoordinates all engineering releases and changes relative to routings, setting standards, data entry and follow-upDetermines priorities with the Director of Manufacturing Engineering and implements cost-reduction projects; maintains detailed documentation as requiredStays informed concerning new manufacturing technology and equipment, and investigates their potential applicationsRecommends incorporation of new technology for company applications where feasible and practicalReviews and addresses corrective actions and preventative actionsPerforms equipment and process validationsOther duties as assigned Knowledge, skills, and abilities:Knowledgeable concerning mechanical principles, machining practicesKnowledgeable concerning modern fabrication and assembly techniques and machine-shop practices and techniques is desirableFamiliarity with ISO 9000:2000, ISO 13485 and AS9100 quality management systems and related requirementsStrong drafting skills using AutoCAD and solid modeling software programsSolidWorks experience desirableCapable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production problems in a timely mannerHas initiative and able to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelinesAble to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at all levels within the organization as well as with external customers and suppliersWorking knowledge of computer systems and data processing, familiarity with complex ERP systems and MRP principlesFamiliar with computer-controlled machine tools and high-volume automated production equipmentCADCAM experience desirable.B.S.M.E. degree or a B.S. degree with a concentration of coursework in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or equivalentNot less than three (3) years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, with tool and/or machine design experienceFamiliarity of Six Sigma and Lean practices desirableFamiliarity with electro mechanical systems desirable; familiarity with test system development desirable; lab view experience desirableCompany DescriptionCGI, Inc - a leader in the design and manufacturing of precision motion control products - utilizes its comprehensive technical knowledge, manufacturing expertise and the latest systems available to serve the needs of an ever-changing motion control marketplace.
