As aResearch Nurse for Oncology phase 1, you will support theimplementation and conduct of human subject research projects,applying the nursing process while ensuring strict adherence toresearch protocol requirements. Responsibilities include timelycompletion and communication of regulatory documents, developmentof data capture and monitoring plans and reporting of seriousadverse events. This position offers a unique opportunity to make alasting impact by helping cancer patients access promising researchtreatments when standard options are limited, supporting them fromtheir first interaction with the team through their returnhome.A caregiver inthis role works days from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. - 5:00p.m.After sixmonths, there may be an option to work from home one day per weekdepending on businessneeds.Acaregiver who excels in this rolewill: Assist withcoordinating the implementation and conduct of research projectsensuring adherence to research protocolrequirements. Completeand communicate regulatory documents, develop data, monitor plans,report Serious Adverse Events as the occur and complete FDA andsponsorforms. Serve asa liaison between investigators, research personnel, outside studypersonnel and central research administration offices to assist inprotocol interpretation, enrollment and safetyquestions. Utilizethe nursing process as a basis for patientcare. Assess researchsubjects, complete nursing assessments, document findings inresearch subject records and notify the physician of abnormalfindings. Establish acare plan in collaboration with the research subject, family andresearch team and coordinate ongoingcare. Identifydischarge needs and facilitate discharge planning asappropriate. Performtelephone triage, nursing procedures andtreatments. Evaluate,initiate and maintain standards of care consistent with CCHSpolicies &procedures. Assistwith specialized patient care equipment as required by the clinicalresearchprotocol. Administermedications and treatments as ordered by a physician orLIP. Direct,coordinate and participate in the evaluation & supervision ofnursing care provided to research subjects, establishing patientcare priorities and delegating nursing activities according to thepatient needs and staff qualifications andcapabilities. Conductand document the informed consentprocess. Successfullycomplete certification in Human Subjects Research within 90 days orhire as required by the Responsible Conduct of Research Guidelinesadopted by ClevelandClinic.
