Job Description

The Body Shop Supervisor oversees daily operations of the body shop and leads the team in completing fabrication, painting, and repair projects on company vehicles. This role ensures quality workmanship, compliance with safety standards, and efficient scheduling of repairs. The Supervisor is hands-on in fabrication, painting, and repair work while also guiding technicians, coordinating workflow, and ensuring vehicles are restored to factory specifications. Occasional travel may be required.Interested in learning more about this job Scroll down and find out what skills, experience and educational qualifications are needed.*Essential Duties:** Lead, train, and support body shop staff in fabrication, painting, and repair work.* Assign and oversee daily workload to ensure projects are completed efficiently and to company standards.* Estimate parts, labor, and materials for cosmetic and structural vehicle damage.* Coordinate with mechanics and other departments to determine part requirements and repair schedules.* Oversee and assist with removal, repair, and reinstallation of vehicle body parts, upholstery, accessories, or electrical operating components.* Perform and supervise fabrication, welding, riveting, and bolting of replacement parts.* Direct painting operations, including prepping surfaces and applying protective or decorative coatings.* Ensure completion of major vehicle body repairs and adjustments using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.* Review vehicle evaluation reports for the Safety and Maintenance departments and recommend additional repairs as needed.* Maintain compliance with FCMSA, OSHA, HIOSH, and all company safety regulations.* Supervise documentation of completed repairs, parts usage, and labor hours.* Provide guidance on restoring damaged frames, body sections, and interiors to factory standards.* Support continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and ensuring high-quality results.* Perform other job-related duties as assigned.*Education:** High school diploma or equivalent required.* Vocational or technical certification in auto body repair, painting, or fabrication preferred.* ASE or ICAR certification strongly preferred.*Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required:** Minimum *3-5 years of experience* in a body shop environment, specializing in *fabrication, painting, and repairs*.* At least *1 year of supervisory or lead role experience* preferred.* Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance systems, gas/electric welding, and body shop applications.* Proven ability to lead a team, delegate tasks, and ensure work quality.* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with staff, management, and other departments.* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.* Ability to work independently, use good judgment, and make sound decisions.* Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work on elevated areas of fleet vehicles.* Must possess own body shop tools and be proficient in using hand tools and portable power tools.* Must pass HIOSH-required respirator testing.* Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. xijylhu * Willingness to travel as needed.Job Type: Full-timePay: $34.00 - $44.00 per hourBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceWillingness to travel:* 25% (Preferred)Work Location: In person
