The driller will be responsible for operating drilling rigs and equipment used to extract soil, rock, and groundwater samples for geotechnical, environmental, and construction projects. This role is vital for assessing site conditions and supporting design and construction activities.*Key Responsibilities** *Drilling Operations:** Operate geotechnical drilling rigs (e.g., CME, Mobile B-series, Diedrich, auger, rotary, and CPT rigs).* Perform soil borings, rock coring, and test pit excavations.* Install monitoring wells and piezometers as needed.* *Sampling and Logging:** Collect disturbed and undisturbed soil/rock samples.* Document stratigraphy using standard methods (e.g., ASTM standards).* Prepare field logs, boring logs, and daily drilling reports.* *Safety and Maintenance:** Follow all site-specific and OSHA safety regulations.* Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of equipment and vehicles.* Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites.* *Project Coordination:** Work closely with geotechnical engineers and project managers.* Coordinate with site supervisors and subcontractors.* Ensure timely and efficient execution of assigned drilling activities.*Qualifications** *Experience:** 2+ years of experience operating geotechnical or environmental drilling equipment required.* Familiarity with SPT, Shelby tube, split spoon, and rock coring techniques.* *Education:** High school diploma or equivalent.* Technical training or drilling certifications (e.g., NGWA, OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER) a plus.* *Skills:** Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.* Ability to read and interpret site plans and borehole logs.* Effective communication and teamwork.* *Licensing:** Valid CDL Class A or B preferred.* Clean driving record.*Working Conditions** Outdoor fieldwork in varying weather and terrain conditions.* Physically demanding tasks including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.* May involve overnight travel or remote project locations.*Compensation and Benefits** Competitive hourly wage based on experience.* Overtime pay.* Health, dental, and vision insurance.* 401(k) with company match. xijylhu * Per diem for travel projects.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $22.00 per hourExpected hours: 32 - 60 per weekBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Professional development assistance* Referral program* Retirement plan* Tuition reimbursementExperience:* Drilling: 2 years (Required)Ability to Commute:* Hanover, VA 23069 (Required)Ability to Relocate:* Hanover, VA 23069: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
