Hands on work leader for commercial/marine coating applications. Direct, oversee and participate in surface preparation, application of paint including brush, rolling and spray techniques, and general labor tasks for all projects. Verify appropriate environmental conditions for all work being performed and maintain quality documentation throughout the project, ensuring all specification requirements are met. Well versed in proper surface preparation techniques, ability to accurately interpret and follow coating product data sheets, proficient in spray applications, and clear understanding of coating application safety.* Holds specific trade knowledge supporting confident supervisory direction.* Always pursues trades best practices for compliance and production results and consistently adheres to coating specifications and contract requirements throughout project execution.* Advanced understanding of how trade work impacts the workflow of other trades.* Orders material accurately and efficiently, adhering to milestone dates and ensuring budgets and production are not negatively impacted.*Leadership** Leads by example in personal actions, appearance, and input of time.* Has good job discipline and is able to hold themselves as well as others to high levels of accountability/ standards.* Strives for continued self-improvement in self and direct reports.*Operational Standards** Promotes a culture of safety and is accountable for crew's safety performance.* Works within a personnel development plan to create opportunities for employee growth.* Manages company resources, departmental interaction, and equipment to promote high levels of performance.* Promotes a culture of disciplined adherence to W&D's "Operational Standards" and works to meet Company expectations.*Planning & Organizing** Plans tracks and monitors work according to required schedules.* Ability to read blueprints (CAD or TruView), interpret product data sheets, and conduct regular material inventory reviews to appropriately order paint throughout projects.*Administration** Completes timecard review and approval in a timely manner, ensures hours are charged to the appropriate work packages, and distributes labor hours efficiently on all projects.* Creates accurate schedules for coating events and ensures they are manned appropriately, and coordinates with various coating representatives to ensure compliance throughout major evolutions.* Is proactive and appropriately pursues change orders when necessary.*Teamwork** Works collaboratively with other W&D Trades, personnel, and management.* Utilizes individual skills and strengths for the benefit of the team and is willing to go above and beyond to support the team.*Delegation and Supervision** In a team based environment, reviews man hour performance and implements a plan to achieve manning budget and performance goals* Demonstrates ability to take charge and direct others in accomplishing work, effectively selects and motivates crews, encourages career development for crew members and completes timely reviews.*Communications** Verbal and written communications are clear and concise.* Demonstrates good active listening skills.* Takes time to communicate with all crew members offering constructive ongoing dialogue.* Effectively communicates with other trade work leaders to support production efforts, is proactive in asking questions or raising issues, and appropriately updates management on job progress and potential bottlenecks.*Operational Metrics** Supports safety goals.* Supports labor - man hour utilization goals.* Supports quality goals.*All Other** Supports and accomplishes all other tasks as assigned.*Job Requirements/Qualifications*:*Physical Requirements:** Ability to stand for long periods of time.* Comfortable working at heights & confined spaces.* Able to life/move 50 pounds.* Able to perform in varying environmental conditions.Minimum of 2 years of professional metal surface preparation and painting experience required, at least 5 years of professional experience highly desired. Marine surface preparation/coating experience preferred over commercial/residential, but all experience will be considered. Composite paint experience highly desired.be able to work a flexible schedule with some evening or 2nd shift work along with some weekend time. All major coating events (spray events) are accomplished after normal working hours or on weekends. Schedules are typically outlined in advance and can be planned for; however, it is expected that the work lead participates and is present for all events. Flexibility and willingness to support production is crucial for this role.NACE or SSPC certification desired (or ability to obtain within a reasonable time frame) but not required.Prior supervisor experience required. Skilled in directing and coordinating the work of others, and able to effectively communicate with management, other work leaders, and direct reports.Must have strong commitment towards safety and working safe.Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to get along with various personnel and work as a member of a team.Basic computer literacy skills required. Ability to read and send emails (Outlook) and have basic working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications (Word, Powerpoint, Excel).*Specifics: *Marine/Commercial airless spray-painting experience with two-part epoxy paint is highly desired for this role. Metal surface preparation experience is required.
