Imagine Desert West Middle is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher works with students who have a range of learning, emotional, physical, and mental disabilities, providing specialized instruction and ensuring that each student's educational needs are met in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The Special Education Teacher collaborates with general education teachers, families, and related service providers to create a supportive and inclusive educational environment that promotes student success and independence.Do not wait to apply after reading this description a high application volume is expected for this opportunity.*Performance Responsibilities:** Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.* Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying disabilities.* Provide direct instruction in academic, social, behavioral, and life skills areas based on each student's IEP.* Use a variety of instructional strategies and assistive technologies to meet diverse learning needs.* Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.* Monitor and assess students' progress and provide regular reports to parents and school administrators.* Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of assessments, services, and IEP goal progress.* Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations and modifications are implemented effectively.* Implement positive behavioral support plans and monitor student behavior.* Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.* Participate in IEP meetings, family-teacher conferences, and other relevant team meetings.* Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.* Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.* Perform other duties as assigned.*Key Competencies** Mission aligned - Holds a deep belief that all children can succeed and the level at which a student starts academically does not dictate what they ultimately can achieve. Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators, administrators, and families.*Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree required; degree in education/related field preferred.
