This position offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for career growth and development.Responsibilities:- Perform major mechanical work such as rebuilds and overhauls on transit buses and maintenance shop equipment.- Diagnose, identify, and repair major defects on all systems/components of transit buses and fleet vehicles.- Conduct bus inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on passenger coaches.- Utilize shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical information for inspections, maintenance, and repairs on various vehicles.- Reference vehicle manuals to troubleshoot malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.- Prepare written reports documenting defects and repairs on inspection forms and work orders.- Provide guidance to other mechanics on proper equipment use and mechanical duties.- Communicate task/job status through written, verbal, and electronic forms.- Work varying shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays at different facilities.Skills:- Five (5) years of full-time journey-level experience in automotive or transit vehicle maintenance.- Valid Class C California driver's license with the ability to obtain a Class B permit with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements.- Ability to obtain a 608 and 609 Air Conditioning Certification within 120 days of hire.- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.- Successful completion of pre-employment medical examination, drug screen, and background check.- Effective oral and written communication skills.Join our team as a Mechanic 'A' where you will contribute to the reliability and safety of our public transportation services while enjoying competitive pay ranging from $35.25/hour to $46.98/hour.
