The Role The primary purpose of this position is to secure the right product, at the right price, from the right source, at the right time to achieve the sales and financial goals of assigned categories and enable the Company to achieve budget. You will be responsible for the procurement of product in the Fairbanks division. This includes product order accuracy, stock levels, and management of product lines. Coordinating procurement & inventory activities with other staff members under the direction of the General and Assistant General Manager to ensure a well-coordinated product line program offered to customers. Must be highly flexible to service needs and have an ability to work in a fast pace, closely configured work environment. Essential Responsibilities Include, but Not Limited To: All employees are responsible for food safety and are expected to notify the appropriate manager, supervisor, or key personnel if they witness any compromise to food safety or food quality. Continually identify and determine optimum sources of supplyManage service levels and inventory of assigned categoriesMake purchasing decisions under the direction of the General ManagementBe responsible for procuring designated quality and quantityMaintain Minimize shrinkage/spoilage of the broadline grocery itemsManage marketing/promotional funds, rebates, slotting fees and payment terms.Ensure that product recalls are completedSupport established logistical procedures to facilitate product arrivalCommunicate effectively to all department supervisorsSeek opportunity/spot buysMaintain on hands of regularly stocked broadline grocery itemsMonitor and report items/categories/business trends of the broadline grocery itemsMaintain awareness of market trends, technology and food safetyMaintain awareness of Companyí¢â‚¬â„¢s marketing strategies and competitive activitySome travel required: vendor and marketing conventions Five (5) years broadline grocery buying experience or experience working in broadline grocery distributionStrong negotiating skillsStrong Math & Writing skills required to quickly multiply & add cases/pallets & calculate product cost, market, & marginMultiple task managementBe able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and able to accomplish team objectivesCandidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with computer competency, including Excel, Word, & OutlookStrong commodities knowledge, including dry goods, meat, and other broadline product linesPhysical requirements: Walking through the warehouse to check product inventory & qualityAbility to observe and follow proper safety procedures, and a willingness to report potentially unsafe conditions All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
