The Purchasing Manager plays a key leadership role in managing all procurement and purchasing operations for the company. This position oversees vendor relations, negotiates pricing and contracts, maintains budgets, and ensures materials are sourced efficiently and cost-effectively. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at driving cost savings while supporting multiple construction projects.QualificationsLeadership & Team ManagementOversee all purchasing activities and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.Train, mentor, and lead purchasing team members to achieve departmental goals.Develop and implement strategic procurement initiatives to improve cost saving and operational efficiency.Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external trade partners/vendors.Vendor Relations & Cost ManagementManage vendor performance, addressing pricing discrepancies, delivery issues, and quality concerns.Negotiate annual vendor contracts and pricing agreements to achieve the best value.Research new materials, suppliers, and rebate opportunities to maximize company savings.Monitor tariffs and collaborate with Pre-Construction teams to identify cost-reduction opportunities.Track vendor compliance and manage quarterly rebate programs.Budgeting & Project SupportPrepare and maintain accurate project budgets, material lists, and contract documentation.Review and validate vendor pricing to ensure full scope coverage.Resolve discrepancies between estimating and purchasing figures.Update material lists and contracts as project scopes evolve.Support design and construction teams by managing finish package uploads and updates.Systems & ReportingAdminister vendor and employee system access in mark Systems/ITK.Support vendor onboarding and provide necessary training.Review weekly Variance Purchase Order (VPO) reports to identify trends, cost overruns or coding issues.Collaborate with Construction and Estimating teams to correct discrepancies and enhance reporting accuracy.Coordination & CommunicationPartner with Construction Administrator and Purchasing Coordinators to support timely project starts.Participate in weekly purchasing/estimating meetings to review cost trends and open VPOs.Provide timely support to field and project management teams for procurement needs.Communicate recurring cost or material issues to Pre-Construction and leadership.Budget OversightConduct monthly budget reviews for projects nearing completion to ensure accuracy.Monitor spending against budgets and recommend corrective actions when needed.Key SkillsStrong negotiation, cost control, and vendor relationship management skills.Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.Proficiency in Mark Systems/ITK purchasing and construction management software.Excellent communication, organization and analytical abilities.Proven leadership and team development skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field requiredMinimum 3-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in residential constructionDemonstrated experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost analysisThe Brittenum Group is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. xijylhu We do not discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, marital status, veteran status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable law.
