Roles & Responsibilities Provide expert Labor & Delivery nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume environment — you’ll be at the center of care for moms and babies Function as Baby Nurse during deliveries and manage newborn care until safe transfer to postpartum (APGARs, warming, assessments, ID/banding) Circulate for C-sections and support OR flow in a 4-OR unit; assist with recovery of C-sections Perform external fetal monitoring and recognize/treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Manage obstetric emergencies including hemorrhage and shock, and administer critical meds (magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, pitocin, terbutaline) Start and maintain IVs, assist with amnioinfusion, forceps/vacuum deliveries, sterile vaginal exams and other procedures Provide postpartum care including fundus/lochia checks, episiotomy care, foley management and breastfeeding support Chart thoroughly in Epic and participate in care that follows AWHONN guidelines Qualifications Active RN license (compact licenses honored by Swedish facilities; NURSYS verification proof required) Minimum 3 years experience in high-acuity, high-volume Labor & Delivery; 3-5 years preferred — high-risk experience strongly preferred Prior travel experience required; unit does not accept first-time travelers Current supervisory references required with submission Required certifications: BLS and NRP Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate Demonstrated ability to circulate in C-section and perform newborn procedures (eyes, Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, assessments) Epic electronic charting experience required Knowledge & Skills Neonatal resuscitation and newborn thermoregulation External fetal monitoring and interpretation of fetal heart rate patterns High-acuity maternal care including hemorrhage management and emergency response IV therapy skills including starting and managing drips (insulin, magnesium sulfate, etc.) Operating confidently in OR/CS environment and assisting with high-risk deliveries Postpartum assessment and lactation/breastfeeding support Strong unit-based communication and interdisciplinary collaboration Benefits Supportive team environment that values your skills and growth Licensure assistance & verification support (NURSYS proof required) to make onboarding smooth Travel reimbursement and help navigating local housing options for travelers Comprehensive orientation (36 hours) so you feel confident from day one Flexible time-off requests considered case-by-case to help maintain life outside work Professional development and access to specialty resources (AWHONN guidelines followed) Interdisciplinary support on unit including Respiratory, Pharmacy, Rapid Response and more Fun bonus: work in a high-volume center where your experience truly matters and grows Travel Perks: Explore Seattle, WA Seattle is a fantastic home base between shifts: stroll Pike Place Market for fresh seafood and coffee culture, enjoy views from the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden, or take short day trips to Mount Rainier and Olympic National Park for hiking.
