NEW CONNECTIONS ACADEMY IS HIRING A SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER!DO YOU WANT TO JOIN OUR AMAZING TEAM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE?Education: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (at minimum)Certification: PEL/ Endorsed with Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS-1)Special Knowledge/ Skills:* Knowledge of special education policies and procedures.* Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for the educational requirements for students with special needs.* Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.* Ability to collaborate with a multi-faceted group of professionals.* Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.* Writing Individualized Education Plans (IEP)Experience:* Working with children with disabilities (high functioning autism)* Classroom/ behavior management skills* Creating and implementing creative lesson plans* IEP writing and implementation* Responsibilities and duties include (but aren’t limited to):* Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.* Collaboratively create, perform, and assess lesson plans for various subject areas.* Modify/ adapt general education curriculum to meet individual needs.* Develops, implements, and monitors progress towards IEP’s.* Communicates effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.* Project a positive image to the community through the dissemination of ideas, information, and responsiveness to student, family, NCA, district, and community agency concerns.* Recognize personnel policies/regulations and the importance of conferring with colleagues, district personnel, and the community in a professional manner.* Strive to improve leadership skills through self-initiated professional growth and development activities by utilizing information and insights gained in professional efforts for self-improvement.* Acquire and maintain certification in the school’s Nonviolent Crisis Prevention& Intervention plan.* Meeting expectations and responsibilities (deadlines, etc) in a timely fashion.* Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with Part 401 rules and section 226 of the Illinois administrative codes.* Keeping current with technology and the uses of them as they pertain to educating students.* Other duties as requested by school administration.Job Type: Full-timePay: From $58,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Flexible spending account* Health insurance* Health savings account* Life insurance* Paid time off* Professional development assistance* Referral program* Tuition reimbursement* Vision insuranceExperience:* special education : 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:* Professional Educator License with LBS1 cerrtification (Required)Ability to Commute:* Palatine, IL 60074 (Required)Work Location: In person
