*General Statement of Duties*Position is responsible for conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing swimmers in stroke techniques for the Mid-Island Y JCC Dolphin Swim Team.*Essential Duties**Complexity of Duties*Under direct supervision, the duties require individual to develop, instruct and manage quality swim team practices.*Typical Duties*1. Assesses swimmers skills and create a practice plan to improve on their skills, monitors swimmers during competition and practice and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of swimmers.2. Assists the head coach with instructing students in the rules, regulations, equipment, andtechniques of the sport.3. Organizes and directs small group practices and activities/exercises4. Be able to recognize student’s weaknesses and provide positive corrective feedback.5. Follows established procedures in the event of an injury6. Complete attendance/ performance records for each swimmer each month.7. Attend meetings and in-service training as assigned.8. Assists in distribution of equipment and uniforms to swimmers as directed by the Head Coach or Aquatic Director9. Maintains the equipment in an orderly condition.10. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities*Full Performance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*1. Knowledge of lesson planning, class organization and teaching methods.2. Knowledge of rules and regulations governing the use of water facilities.3. Considerable swimming skill and the ability to demonstrate Level 4 skills.4. Ability to respond and assist effectively in emergency situations.5. Ability to portray a professional attitude and maintain good relationships with the students.*Minimum Qualifications*1. CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification2. First Aid certification3. Safety Training for Swim Coaches4. Water Safety Instructor certification (preferred)*Necessary Special Requirements*1. Minimum of two years competitive swimming experience2.
