*I. General Summary** To assist in maintaining quality production and keep molding and auxiliary equipment running smoothly & efficiently. Performs mold set-ups per the production schedule.*II. Principle Duties and Responsibilities** Performs the job of cleaning molds to ensure production of quality parts.* Performs routine maintenance on molding machines and auxiliary equipment as needed. Trained to perform adjustments or repairs. Notifies shift supervisor of situations to be adjusted or repaired.* Assists in color changes to ensure a smooth transition between colors and cut down on downtime.* To set up, or assist in mold set ups.* To assist in maintaining productive usage of employees to maximize production and minimize downtime.* Provide accurate documentation of molding process changes.* Assist production team in the solution of efficiency and quality problems.* Other miscellaneous duties as required.*III. Conditions and Equipment**A. Working Conditions** The Molding Technician work primarily in the production rooms. Physical conditions are as follows: Squatting to repair equipment; stretching to set molds; standing up to 8 hours or more; lifting up to 50 lb.; and wearing safety glasses and hearing protection.*B. Equipment** Closing Machines: Must know how to adjust pocket for caps, how to troubleshoot problems with plungers and tracks, and how to check fuses.* Auxiliary Equipment: Must be able to troubleshoot. Beware of pinch points.* Multimeter: Must know how to test equipment and how to use it safely to prevent electrocution.* Hand Tools: Used to set molds.* Fork Truck: License required.* Molds: Hot runner system can cause burns.
