*Dairy Manager**Summary:*So-Fine Bovines is a 700 cow dairy farm located in Westfield, Wisconsin that is currently seeking to hire a Dairy Manager as a result of a retiring member of the business. As a family farm, So-Fine Bovines takes pride in a highly productive herd, a great team of people, and stewardship of the land. The Dairy Manager will be responsible for day-to-day dairy operation decisions pertaining to cattle management, employee management, and facility management.*Preferred Skills:*Agriculture / Dairy Experience, Previous Herdsman Experience, Experience with Dairy Software, Previous Management Roles, Mechanical Knowledge, Interpersonal Attributes*Work Relationships:*The Dairy Manager will manage and work closely with herd crew, milking crew, feeder, office manager, vendors, veterinarians, nutritionist, and consultants. All operational decisions made by the Dairy Manager will be actively communicated with the owners.*Duties Include*:*Parlor Management** Work with advisors and employees to implement SOP's and protocols.* Ensure correct operation of equipment.* Identify problems and implement improvements and new procedures.* Test for antibiotics before the milk leaves the farm.* Monitor milk quality. Inspect and change milk trailers.* Work with inspectors to resolve issues.* Maintain and monitor milk production records.* Monitor all herd metrics.*Employee Management:** Schedule employees, work, and tasks.* Recruit and terminate employees.* Train and develop new and current employees.* Communicate and assist with other employees.* Inspire and Support employee performance.* Supervise and Evaluate employee performance.* Attend and conduct employee meetings.*Herd Health Management:** Work in conjunction with Herdsman* Collect and record data utilizing Dairy Comp* Observe all livestock for signs of illness or distress* Consult with veterinarian.* Observe and support ideal cow care* Recommend culling decisions* Manage pharmaceutical inventory and vet supplies*Reproductive Management:** Oversee breeding program performance.* Utilize Cow Manager Program.* Breeding ability as needed.* Manage semen inventory.* Administer hormone breeding program.* Meet reproductive goals*Youngstock Management:** Lead relationship with custom heifer raiser.* Monitor health and growth of young stock.* Dehorn, properly ID & tag calves.* Carry out existing vaccination program and ensure vaccines are administered appropriately* Colostrum Management.* Sanitation oversight of pens and equipment.*Feed Management:** Ensure adequate feed and water is provided for the herd.* Work directly with Nutritionist on feed decisions.* Oversight of Feeder and Bunker Management.* Track current feed inventories.* Order feed commodities as needed.*Facility and Grounds Management:** Upkeep and maintenance of facilities and equipment.* Coordinate timely repairs.* Order parts and supplies as needed.*Compensation and Benefits:*Compensation will be based on experience and skill.
