*Position Summary: *In an effort to minister to the large youth population (ages 12-18) of our community, we are seeking a part-time youth minister (approximately 15 hours per week) who will serve as a mentor, guide, and teacher, fostering an environment where young people can explore their faith, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their relationships with God and each other. You will be instrumental in working to organize and develop youth to shape relevant and engaging events for the youth and their families, such as Bible studies, worship services, retreats, and community service projects, all designed to involve and inspire our youth. We look forward to the possibility of you joining our dedicated team and contributing to the vibrant, Christ-centered community at Union Chapel UMC.*Key Responsibilities:*· Develop and lead weekly Bible studies and other educational programs tailored to youth.· Plan and oversee events such as retreats, mission trips, and service projects.· Provide spiritual guidance and counseling to youth members.· Collaborate with church staff to integrate youth activities into the broader church calendar.· Engage with parents and guardians to support the spiritual development of their children.· Develop relationships with local UMC partner churches, local schools, and community organizations.· Maintain a presence at church services and other key events, including participation in staff, SPRC, Church Council, and church meetings.· Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.· Utilize social media and other platforms to communicate with and engage the youth community.· Train and recruit volunteers for efficient implementation of youth ministry programs.· Provide theological direction in accordance with the church's beliefs.*Desired Qualifications:*· Strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a passion for ministry with youth· At least 3-5 years of experience leading a youth ministry or similar program preferred.· Strong understanding of adolescent development and issues.· Strong organizational and leadership skills.· Experience with relational ministry and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse leaders, churches, and the local UMC district.· A student or graduate in Theology, Biblical Studies, or a related field preferred.· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse audiences, including youth, young adults, leaders, and churches.· Proficient in using technology and social media for ministry purposes.· Creative and innovative approach to youth engagement.· Willingness to work with an oversight team.· Strong commitment to inclusive ministry and outreach as understood in our baptism vows, “the Church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races.”*Physical Requirements:*· Must live within 40 miles of Berkeley Springs WV, and be able to attend events and meetings as needed.· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and attend overnight events as needed.Job Type: Part-timePay: $1,665.00 per monthExpected hours: 10 – 15 per weekBenefits:* Mileage reimbursementWork Location: In person
