Job Description

*Position Summary*The Swiss lathe machinist owns part programs from concept through production, optimizing toolpaths, tooling, and fixturing for speed, quality, and repeatability. This is a hands-on role with machine setup, troubleshooting, and production on Citizen D25 swiss lathes. Beyond production responsibilities, this role will develop advanced machining processes and drive continuous improvement across the production floor.*Job Responsibilities** Evaluate CAD/2D part requirements and identify critical challenges and features* Work with designers to modify or adapt geometry for more efficient manufacturing* Create CAM machining strategies for Citizen D25 Swiss lathes* Select speciality tooling to ensure efficient and repeatable part production* Setup machining jobs including; machine setup, tool installation, and first article troubleshooting* Operate machine production jobs including; material preparation, in-process inspection, machine loading, and tool offset adjustments.* Perform part inspection using hand tools and automated inspection equipment*Additional Responsibilities** Train and mentor engineers, machinists, and technicians on CAM, setup, and best practices* Develop standardized operating procedures to streamline and document common shop workflows* Lead cross-functional improvement efforts and share lessons learned* Provide input on equipment purchases and shop floor layout decisions*Minimum Requirements** 5+ yrs experience programming and operating Swiss lathes* Ability to read and interpret GD&T* Strong understanding of cutter materials, coatings, and geometries* Ability to select tools and cutting parameters for various materials* Competent with basic measuring techniques using a range of instruments* Self-motivated, with a capacity to work independently and follow instructions*Preferred Qualifications ** Experience with Citizen lathes* Proficiency in Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD and CAM* Experience programming 4 and 5-axis machines* Experience with traditional (fixed headstock) lathe*About Us*We’re a young, quickly evolving machine shop where each person has a direct impact on product quality, customer success, and technology investment decisions.
