We take pride in being able to deliver a product that unsurpassed while serving in a warm, sincere & hospitable manner.The following will provide you with more specifics about our Pastry Chef position.Key Responsibilities: A member of our pastry team that prepares and serves pastries, desserts and other baked menu items. This person is skilled at preparing recipes & dishes according to established guidelines. Our pastry/dessert cooks display good judgement & is able to function within a commercial kitchen environment including during prep and service time periods throughout the day & evening. This is a crucial role in the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, working under the guidance of our Pastry Chef & Executive Chef to ensure that our dishes are prepared & served efficiently, consistently and at the highest culinary level.Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Goals:Aware & knowledgeable of trends in the industryPassion for how items are created including nutritional ingredient considerationMust be a certified food handler, Serve Safe (Pennsylvania) (We can provide training)Must be organized, and have the ability to work aloneMust be able to multitask and handle stress & pressure well while being able to execute at a high levelEvaluates and solves problems encountered such as substituting items on menus, and reducing excess waste and spoilageAble to receive instruction and criticism constructivelyAble to create recipes & source ingredients necessary to create menu itemsMake sure station has essential mise en place for serviceHave ability to perform cooking demonstrations for resort guestsAble to perform hands on/ scratch bakingSome food purchasing may be required and responsibility for food inventoriesA sense of passion and genuine concern for the finished product & the enjoyment it provides to our customers is importantDaily communication with culinary managersAbility to work shifts as business dictates including holidays & weekendsQualification Requirements:One-two years’ experience as Pastry cook or an equivalent position within the pastry field, associate degree or equivalent from two-tear College or technical school is preferredJOB DUTIES• Assist pastry team consisting of pastry cooks and externs. Prepares spa like desserts, breads, cookies and other pastries for Tree Restaurant and guest areas at The Lodge at Woodloch• Assists in determining the appropriate quantity of baked goods for each F&B area• Taste & tests pastry items made from production to ensure consistent quality• Plates, portions, and garnishes desserts to ensure proper presentation• Completes production records in an accurate and timely manner• Assists in developing new products for a la carte and corporate group menus on a rotating basis• Sets daily pars on all products to ensure freshness.
