*DEFINITION**:*Under general direction, the Golf Course Manager is responsible for the oversight, planning, and daily operations of the County-owned golf course, including staff supervision, budgeting, equipment, events, maintenance coordination, and community engagement. This is a year-round exempt management position.*DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: *This position manages both operational and administrative functions of the County Golf Course. It serves as the liaison to the County Commission and community partners to enhance and promote year-round golf course use.*ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS**:* *The duties listed below are examples of the work typically performed by an employee in this position. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may be assigned duties which are not listed below*1. Provide leadership and oversight of all golf course personnel, including pro shop staff, and work in collaboration with the Maintenance Department to supervise and coordinate maintenance personnel and responsibilities.2. Develop, manage, and monitor the annual golf course budget and maintenance plan, working closely with the Maintenance Department to align resources, personnel, and responsibilities.3. Supervise clubhouse operations and ensure coordination with the Bar & Grill vendor.4. Oversee the maintenance and efficient operation of course equipment, in collaboration with the Maintenance Department.5. Direct and participate in daily golf course operations.6. Plan, organize, and manage local, state, regional, and NNGA golf tournaments as well as league play.7. Create, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures.8. Collaborate with County, tourism, recreation, and community entities to develop off-season programs.9. Provide regular updates and presentations to the County Commission.10. Ensure accurate use of the POS system and financial tracking of fees, rentals, and memberships.11. Maintain accurate and professional records related to green fees, memberships, cart rentals, tournaments, etc.12. Represent the Golf Course at County, city, and community meetings.13. Promote facility rentals for special events such as weddings, parties, and corporate functions.14. Monitor and maintain water usage records for the course.*QUALIFICATIONS**:**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*_Knowledge of_· Golf course operations, clubhouse management, and grounds maintenance.· Budget preparation and financial oversight.· Public sector policies and community engagement strategies.· Point-of-sale systems and reporting tools.· Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).· Event and tournament planning.· Professional associations/resources (i.e. Utah Golf Association, Northern Nevada Golf Association, Golf Course Superintendents Association, etc.)_Skill to_· Supervising and leading diverse staff.· Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.· Preparing, managing, and analyzing budgets.· Developing and enforcing operational procedures.· Building professional relationships with partners and the public.· Promoting facility use and community engagement._Ability to_· Work independently and manage multiple priorities.· Represent the County professionally at meetings and events.· Solve problems and adapt to changing circumstances.· Work extended hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays during peak seasons.· Obtain CMAA and Nevada Noxious Weed certifications within one year of hire.*EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:* *The knowledge and ability listed above may be acquired through different types of education, training, and experience. An example of a typical way to acquire the qualifying knowledge and ability is listed below:** Bachelor's degree (in agronomy, business management, or a closely related field) or any equivalent combination of education and experience.* Experience managing staff, developing budgets, and engaging with public boards or commissions preferred.* Experience with small engine repair is preferred but not required.*LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS**:*· Valid Nevada driver’s license required.· CMAA certification or equivalent (must be obtained within 1 year of hire).· Nevada Noxious Weed certification (must be obtained within 1 year of hire).*PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**: The physical requirements described herein are representative of those that must be met by employees to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.*· Ability to move about the golf course and surrounding property, including navigating uneven or outdoor terrain.· Ability to remain in a stationary position or perform tasks in outdoor environments for extended periods.· Ability to operate standard office equipment, golf course equipment, and tools associated with golf course maintenance and operations.· Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer or point-of-sale system.· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff, the public, and County officials, both verbally and in writing.· Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and make timely decisions in a dynamic environment.· Ability to work varied hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed during peak season operations.· Ability to occasionally move objects weighing up to 50 pounds in support of operations and event setup.*In compliance with applicable disability laws, reasonable accommodations may be provided for qualified individuals with a disability who require and request such accommodations.
