*About Us*Lusted Water District is a small, public water utility serving about 1,500 residents and 400 retail connections in a rural-residential area east of Portland, Oregon. Our team of four employees maintains high standards of reliability, safety, and community service.We’re hiring a *Water System Operator* — a dependable, skilled professional ready to take on a key operational role in maintaining and improving our potable water system.*Position Overview*The Water System Operator supports the General Manager in daily operations, maintenance, and repairs of the District’s water system. This role involves independent fieldwork, hands-on mechanical and operational tasks, and direct responsibility for ensuring regulatory compliance and reliable service.*Responsibilities** Operate, maintain, and repair water system infrastructure (mains, valves, hydrants, tanks, service lines).* Monitor system pressure, flow, and quality; adjust operations as needed.* Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system reliability.* Detect and repair leaks or breaks in the system.* Maintain logs, water quality reports, and maintenance records.* Respond to emergency situations such as outages or line breaks.* Keep equipment and vehicles in safe working order.* Work with staff, contractors, and regulators to ensure compliance and efficiency.*Qualifications**Required:** Oregon Level 1 Distribution System Operator certification* Minimum 3 years of experience in water system operations or related work* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record* Ability to work independently and manage priorities* Residence within 1 hour of Gresham, OR*Preferred:** Experience with SCADA systems and pump station operations* Strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills* Knowledge of state and federal water quality standards* Good written and verbal communication skills* Veteran candidates encouraged to apply (veteran preference applies)*Pay & Schedule** $35–$45 per hour, depending on qualifications* Full-time, 40 hours/week (Monday–Friday)* Immediate start available* Must reside within 1 hour (~45 miles) of the District (near Sam Barlow High School)*Benefits** Paid holidays and vacation* Opportunities for certification advancement* Supportive small-team environment*How to Apply*Email the following to **:* *Cover Letter* (max 2 pages)* *Resume* (max 2 pages)* *Completed Application Form* (available at veteran status if applicable.*Equal Opportunity Employer*Lusted Water District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
