*Director of Economic Development**Duties and Responsibilities:*Serves as the primary driver of business and economic growth initiatives across the Rutland Region. Critical areas of responsibility include developing and implementing strategies to attract, retain, and expand businesses, managing key grant and loan programs, and fostering productive relationships with partners to advance CEDRR’s mission of igniting economic growth in the Rutland Region.*Other Responsibilities include:*● Meets with existing and prospective businesses to identify needs, provide guidance on available grants and incentives, and connect them with resources to support growth and sustainability.● Leads efforts in business and economic development through strategic project management, outreach, and engagement with local and regional stakeholders.● Manages all aspects of grant development and administration, including identifying opportunities, writing proposals, coordinating submissions, and ensuring compliance and reporting.● Conducts proactive community business outreach to understand local challenges and opportunities, fostering collaboration that supports the economic vitality of the region.● Serves as project manager for CEDRR’s priority initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and measurable progress toward regional development objectives.● Engages with state and federal legislators and agencies to advocate for the interests and concerns of the regional business community.● Serves as a key staff liaison to the Business Development Committee, helping set agendas, guide discussions, and execute initiatives that align with CEDRR’s strategic priorities.● Acts as an active member of strategic committees and leadership groups, supporting efforts to optimize the organization’s role in regional economic growth.● Represents CEDRR with surrounding town and city administrators, fostering regional collaboration and shared economic goals among municipalities.● Manages CEDRR’s loan program, ensuring responsible administration, strong financial performance, and equitable access for regional businesses._This general outline illustrates the type of work which characterizes the job classification.
