We’re looking for mission-driven individuals who are committed to student success.Avondale Meadows Academy is looking for a positive and skilled, knowledgeable special educator dedicated to helping students who have struggled academically or behaviorally to succeed in school. The candidate we hire will be part of a team, providing coordinated support as well as direct instruction for students with disabilities. The Special Education Teacher will provide support to students with a wide range of mild academic and social/emotional needs. Through a hybrid of collaborative teaching and small group support, the Special Education Teacher will support students on grade level standards as well as individual goals. Our Special Education Teachers will be responsible for creating Individualized Education Plans that are unique to each student and facilitate Annual Case Reviews.The ideal candidate for this position will meet the following qualifications:* A valid Indiana certification in area of special education with Mild Interventions (or willingness to enroll in a Transition to Teaching - Special Education program upon accepting the position)* Experience working with children, especially students who have disabilities* Strong curriculum knowledge and familiarity with literacy development as well as the range of disabilities and conditions that affect learning and how children grow.* The instructional and management tools necessary to provide diverse students at varying skill levels with a safe, supportive environment to grow and do their very best work.* Experience involving families (parents, grandparents and guardians) as well as the community in support of children’s academic and social development* Excellent writing and overall communication skills* A cooperative, energetic disposition and capacity to work in concert with a team.* The capacity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment relentlessly focused on high standards and achieving ambitious goals for our young students.Job Type: Full-timeSalary: $56,000.00 - $70,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Health savings account* Paid time off* Professional development assistance* Vision insurance* Parental leaveJob Type: Full-timePay: From $57,000.00 per yearExperience:* Special Education: 1 year (Preferred)License/Certification:* Teaching License (Preferred)Work Location: In person
