Job DescriptionFully RemoteData Server and Database Administration for Microsoft SQL Server, db2, MarkLogic, DataStage and Tableau.1. Servers - Install, configure and maintain Database System software to support the needs of the business in providing excellent service to Meritain's customers and partners.a. Appropriate sizing, resourcing and configuration of database servers to support customer requirements.b. Maintenance of data server software to meet compliance requirements and sustain current licensing needs. Maintain servers at most recent release level where possible.c. Assist in the design of servers to meet the requirements of the task or project.d. Acquire and maintain software to monitor the performance and physical resources of data servers.e. Provide 24/7 services to address issues uncovered through monitoring processes or as a result of stakeholder discovery.f. Provide reports that can be used by stakeholders to review server usage and configurations.2. Database instances - assist in the design, creation and assume responsibility for maintaining and monitoring databases in the environment. Monitors capacity and performance of databases to ensure they are highly reliable, efficient, cost effective, and provide the required functionality.a. Advise and assist in data modeling and database design when requested. Offer assistance in technical database implementation issues.b. Provide and maintain tools to monitor database activities and create alerting systems for events.c. Provide 24/7 response capabilities for alert events.d. Provide guidance and assistance with performance issues related to database usage.e. Encourage standardization of usage and best practices and share best practices standards.f. Oversee the processing of valid backups and understand Disaster Recovery processes.g. Identify areas of potential concern and proactively address these with the process stakeholders, including suggested alternatives in process, and the creation of repeatable maintenance tasks.h. Provide reports that users may review to analyze database activities and usage.3. Data - facilitate the access to the data for approved users.a. Provide access for users to data that is necessary or advantageous to their job with approved authority, using role-based authentication wherever possible.b. Create access at the lowest level of permissions to fill the requirements of the user.c. Provide reporting for user privileges by database instance to support any auditing or inquiry.d. Limit access to sensitive, protected data using company policy to define the access authenticity.4. Provide adequate safeguards for compliance, security and integrity.5. Demonstrate leadershipa. Take lead on projects/tasks.b. Provides transfer of knowledge and skills to team members, application areas, and business customers.c. Provides input to database technology direction setting and decision-making by formulating options, identifying issues, and making recommendations. Participates in vendor application software evaluation, installation, and proof of concepts.d. Reviews current and future Database technology capabilities and suggests technology replacement as appropriate.e. Participates in data architecture requirements discussions and recommends usage of appropriate database and data management technology.Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 75,400Maximum: 158,300Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.
