The Simsbury plant specializes in manufacturing advanced detonator and initiation technologies for mining, construction, and seismic industries. The site, which employs around 150 workers, is known for its strong safety culture, innovative research and development, and lean manufacturing practices. Beyond production, the plant also serves as a hub for enhancing Dyno Nobel's product portfolio with cutting-edge blasting solutions.What You'll DoAs a General Manager of Operations, you will provide passionate leadership and direction toward the achievement of Zero Harm. You will be accountable to plan, lead and manage efficient manufacturing at the Simsbury, CT manufacturing site. Other duties include:Responsible for leading efforts to deliver results on Plant and Corporate goals and objectives as well as foster and live our Corporate ValuesEnsure business is operated within compliance of all state and federal laws and regulations.Provide passionate leadership and direction in the achievement of Zero HarmEnsure compliance with applicable Company HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Performance Standards, as well as applicable acts and regulationsLead and develop a workforce (including a leadership staff) to meet and/or exceed organizational objectivesChampion a culture of engagement and open communicationDirect and coordinate operations resources to ensure customer demands and requirements are metInstill a quality culture for the site and maintain responsibility for the quality of product to organizational Quality Standards.Develop and manage a site-specific budget to include controlling the sites expenditure and assets to achieve financial targetsAlign manufacturing strategies such as cost reductions, productivity improvements, organizational development, and safety performance to meet corporate business strategiesDevelop, Maintain and Improve site metrics and processes using LEAN methodologies as well as other progressive manufacturing techniquesChampion the development and implementation of organizational and manufacturing efficiency improvement using Business Improvement tools and principles.Participate (with Product Development and Engineering) in the development of new products and/or production processesActively participate as a member of the IS Leadership Team in understanding and solving organizational issues, looking at and capturing opportunity for business growth, and working toward a harmonious management of the IS BusinessMaintain the site expenditure and assets to achieve financial targets.Maintain the highest standards of presentation and professionalism.What We're Looking For:Bachelor's degree or higher in a related area of Business, Science or Engineering10 plus years (combined) in one or more of the following industries: energetic materials, chemical refining, or technical manufacturing5 plus years in a management or leadership capacityMaster's degree preferredMust be willing to undergo and pass an ATF background check as required to be a possessor of explosives.Six Sigma Black Belt Certification preferredAbility to interact and discuss issues with regulatory compliance officials.Ability to provide direction and coaching to others in an effective leadership mannerAbility to travel both domestically and/or other countries (such as Australia and Mexico) from time to timePositive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team playerWhat We Offer:Paid vacation time + 12 paid holidays + PTO daysFull health benefits including employer HSA contributions + dental plan with an orthodontic option, wellness coaching availableUp to a 4% 401k matchA generous tuition reimbursement programGeneral paid parental leaveZero Harm for Everyone EverywhereValue People - Respect, Recognize & RewardThink Customer.
