Whether you're advocating in hearings, negotiating settlements, or mentoring legal staff, you’ll have access to cutting-edge tools and a client-first environment committed to your continued growth.Job Title: Associate Attorney, Workers CompensationLocation:Orange County, Los Angeles County, or Sacramento, CACore Responsibilities:Advocate effectively on behalf of insurance carriers, TPAs, and self-insured employers in all phases of workers’ compensation litigation.Draft and respond to pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.Prepare accurate and timely correspondence to clients and stakeholders.Represent clients at court appearances, hearings, depositions, and cross-examinations, including of medical professionals.Negotiate case settlements, lien claims, and prepare settlement documents.Manage and maintain an organized case calendar to ensure compliance with deadlines.Proactively manage cases from inception through resolution.Supervise and mentor legal assistants to ensure high-quality support and development.Foster and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, vendors, and third parties.Attend and participate in marketing and networking events with current and prospective put and track case activities, correspondence, and billable hours in legal practice software (e.g., PracticeMaster, billing systems).Conduct training seminars for clients on recent updates to workers’ compensation laws.Stay current on legislative and case law changes impacting the workers’ compensation landscape.Attend internal client file reviews and contribute to strategic case planning.Essentials:Demonstrated a minimum of 5+ years of experience on the defense sideJ.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in CaliforniaExperience with PracticeMaster or similar softwareProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), and legal research tools such as LexisNexis or WestlawSkilled in deposition taking, cross-examinations, and courtroom presentationAbility to manage digital records and compliance with court filing systemsIn-depth knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, procedures, and relevant case lawExceptional verbal and written communication skills for correspondence, negotiation, and litigationStrong time management, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlinesAbility to assess legal issues, identify risks, and develop practical, results-oriented solutionsProven track record of litigation and case resolution successWork well with leadership collaborations and welcome constructive feedbackExcellent interpersonal skills with a client-first approachWilling to appear in court digitally as needed(This is a truncated job description and may be expanded or revised.)Compensation:The projected annual salary is estimated at $100,000 - $200,000, based on experience.
