OverviewEngineering Manager - Stormwater / FloodBase pay range: $129,000.00/yr - $156,000.00/yrAbout UsOur Water Resources Business Sector—serving public works departments and water/wastewater utilities throughout California--is undergoing re-organization to accelerate growth of our service capabilities, client base, staff development, and water industry engagement and leadership. With the support of our OneBKF Team of over 400 civil engineers, planners, and surveyors and our new capital investment partner, BKF/'s Water Resources business sector provides an ideal place for experienced engineers looking for career growth as we help our current and future clients throughout the Western US solve their water challenges.BKF is looking for an Engineering Manager or Project Manager to be a key contributor to our Stormwater/Flood practice as we grow our Water Resources business sector through organic growth and acquisitions. This position is equivalent to a Senior or Principal Engineer level at similar consulting firms and represents experience at/beyond the mid-level in technical expertise, design, project planning, project engineering, management, client relations and/or business development. Depending on interest and experience, this role could grow into a technical leadership or other leadership role within Water Resources at BKF.ResponsibilitiesServe as the project manager for stormwater treatment, conveyance, site civil, and environmental design projects.Serve as task manager on larger planning, design, and construction projectsOversee the development, maintenance, and review of Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs/SWPPPs)Oversee the development, maintenance, and review of hydrology and hydraulic reportsPerform complex engineering tasks including engineering designs, preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for storm drainage systemsReview product designs and drawings for compliance with engineering principles, agency standards, customer contract requirements, and related specificationsPrepare stormwater master plans, studies, and technical memoranda that concisely communicate technical and non-technical analyses and conclusionsDevelop proposals, budgets and schedules for selected engineering effortsMeet with clients to determine recommended project scope, estimate staffing requirements, and fee for review and prepare for signatureDevelop and maintain client contact before, during, and after project completionCultivate client relationships through industry groups and by direct contractMaintain three-month workload projections for all projects under personal managementWork closely with other engineers and managers to balance workload demands amongst current staffProvide mentoring and training to Design and Project EngineersPrepare and conduct technical review of staff, reports, correspondence, calculations and prepare technical recommendationsPlan, organize and supervise work of professionals and technicians as neededPrepare opinions of probable cost and construction schedules/sequencing on current and new designsQualificationsBachelor/'s degree in Civil/Environmental EngineeringHydrologic and hydraulic modeling experience using XPSWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, Mike Urban, InfoWorks, and/or other modelling programs8+ years of relevant experienceExcellent communication skills verbal and writtenProven ability to lead and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary technical teamParticipation in marketing clients and preparing competitive and sole source proposals2+ years of project/task and staff managementExperience with CAD and GISPE licensure in CA, or in another state with the ability to obtain in CA within 12 monthsPreferred Education and/or ExperienceMaster/'s degree in Civil/Environmental EngineeringPresentations to industry groups and/or leadership in industry groups at the local/regional levelExperience with nature-based or green infrastructure planning and design desiredCapabilities and interest in non-urban flood management, municipal water/wastewater design, sewer master planning, and/or asset management also desiredParticipation with the California Stormwater Quality Association, Floodplain Managers Association or similar industry organizationsPhysical DemandsMust be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work ConditionsExposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.BenefitsThe typical base salary range for this position is 118,000 - $156,000 annually, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
