OverviewAssistant General Counsel - ComEd Interconnection (Hybrid) role at Exelon.ResponsibilitiesProvides representation and counsel, both internal and external, regarding complex commercial legal assignments related to disputes and complaints for regulated DER interconnection projects, represents the Company at regulatory hearings if necessary, and provides internal and external project compliance, counseling, advice, and support and other regulatory matters utilizing business strategy to complete projects and resolve customer disputes. Has strong comprehension of the electric utility business and/or construction of large interconnection projects. Manages annual and quarterly internal and external reporting obligations. Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, requiring an ability to evaluate matters that may have a major bearing on the Company’s business as it relates to the use of its facilities and real estate interests; evaluates legal and business risks and liability of strategic initiatives and advises clients accordingly. Reviews and drafts legal documents and works closely and cooperatively with necessary internal legal and other business departments to ensure timely and compliant DER document and project completion. Advises internal clients during all phases of dispute. Interprets and applies internal policies consistent with the law.Prepares budgets and oversight of outside counsel managementProvides project leadership direction to other department attorneys and support staffProjects / duties as assigned.Job ScopeSupports more senior attorneys in the ongoing management of relationships and matters on behalf of ComEd, including with internal clients, outside counsel, external stakeholders and municipal, town, county, and some state regulators.Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.Demonstrates innovation; generates new ideas and devises original and successful solutions, programs or actions.Minimum QualificationsAn LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions.At least 7 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.Experience in utility legal matters.Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of regulatory and administrative law in Illinois.Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and ongoing knowledge of federal or state law.Must have the ability to communicate clearly - both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal and legislative materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.Experience in direct counsel to business clients.Preferred QualificationsExperience with a regulated company or industry.Knowledge of Illinois public utilities act and how it applies to utilities.Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures relevant to the operation and success of a utility regulatory practice.Experience with tariffs, riders and/or utility franchise agreements.BenefitsAnnual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $164,000.00/Yr. – $225,500.00/Yr.Annual Bonus for eligible positions: 20%401(k) match and annual company contributionMedical, dental and vision insuranceLife and disability insuranceGenerous paid time off options, including vacation, sick time, floating and fixed holidays, maternity leave and bonding/primary caregiver leave or parental leaveEmployee Assistance Program and resources for mental and emotional supportWellbeing programs such as tuition reimbursement, adoption and surrogacy assistance and fitness reimbursementReferral bonus programAnd much moreNote: Exelon-sponsored compensation and benefit programs may vary or not apply based on length of service, job grade, job classification or represented status.
