You must email your information directly to be considered.Minimum QualificationsAdmission to the Vermont Bar or eligibility for admission by waiver and a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible legal experience, including significant experience in litigation, legal advising, and policy development—preferably in a government or public safety setting.Preferred QualificationsJuris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Demonstrated leadership and management experience, including the ability to lead a legal team, collaborate across departments, and support executive decision-making.Strong litigation background with experience handling administrative hearings, civil litigation, or constitutional law matters.Proven ability to develop, interpret, and implement policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal -depth knowledge of legal issues relevant to corrections, including constitutional rights, labor and employment law, public records, and risk management.Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical legal guidance to both legal and non-legal audiences.Experience advising on or helping to shape legislative or regulatory initiatives is preferredEqual Opportunity Employer The State of Vermont celebrates diversity, and is committed to providing an environment of mutual respect and meaningful inclusion that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills.
