OverviewDescription of the role as conducted within RW Solutions/CW Group. This position involves managing the cafe operations at two Senior Center locations (Newton, CT, and Danbury, CT), promoting food safety and a welcoming dining experience for seniors.ResponsibilitiesOversee the cafe's daily operations to ensure smooth and efficient service during open hours.Supervise volunteers to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.Train volunteers on food safety, customer service, and job tasks as needed.Monitor food temperatures and sanitation practices to meet health regulations.Lead and support meal service, ensure dietary needs are met, and guests are satisfied.Foster a positive team environment and exemplary customer service, food quality, and teamwork.Welcome guests, respond to concerns, and maintain a friendly atmosphere.Address guest feedback, handle complaints or suggestions to improve the dining anize reservations and pre-ordered meals with accuracy and timeliness.Track food supplies, place orders as needed, and ensure proper storage and rotation.Assist with cafe setup, meal preparation, and dishwashing after meals.Keep detailed records of food inventory, donations, and any incidents or accidents.Record and acknowledge meal donations with timely follow-up.Address workplace issues to maintain a positive and respectful environment.What You'll NeedValid driver’s license.Minimum 1–3 years in food service with hands-on experience in front-of-house and back-of-house operations or equivalent.Basic proficiency with scheduling software, inventory systems, and email.Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.Awareness of common dietary restrictions (e.g., low sodium, diabetic-friendly, soft foods).Knowledge of stock rotation, ordering procedures, and cost control.Ability to maintain logs for food inventory, donations, and incidents.Bonus If You Have These SkillsUnderstanding of local health codes, safe food handling, and HACCP principles.Experience training, supervising, and motivating volunteers.Clear, compassionate communication with seniors, staff, and volunteers.Ability to respond to changing needs, dietary requests, or unexpected challenges.Why You’ll Love This JobJoin a mission-driven team that values your work and offers growth opportunities.Access to wellness resources and a program supporting health and work-life balance.Opportunities for advancement within the organization.Physical & Environmental DemandsStand and walk for extended periods during meal preparation and service.Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds; bend, stoop, and reach for storage and cleaning tasks.Perform repetitive motions (e.g., chopping, stirring, dishwashing).Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, and cooking odors.Follow safety procedures when handling cleaning chemicals; maintain a calm demeanor in a busy teract with individuals with mobility challenges, cognitive impairments, or special dietary requirements; reasonable accommodations available.Additional InformationYou don’t need prior experience to join us—just a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
