DescriptionTaft Junior College was established on August 30, 1922 as part of the Taft Union High School District. Classes were first held on the high school campus. The school title officially became Taft College on July 1, 1954, and in September of 1956 a separate campus opened in the current location at 29 Cougar Court adjacent to the high school. The West Kern Community College District was later formed, and is a single-college-district under the guidance of a five-member Board of Trustees. With strong leadership, Taft College offers a robust academic program for its students, and is one of the finest small colleges around!Work Study Responsibilities: Grow the Taft College EOPS/CARE/NextUp & CalWORKs social media channels, Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok, by coming up with video concepts that will appeal to Taft College students and prospective students, filming video assets via mobile, and editing assets, as needed. Engage with our social media community in a way that accurately reflects the Taft College Brand. Contribute to the strategy, vision, and voice of our six social media channels. Assist with the recruitment and outreach events for EOPS/CARE/NextUp and CalWORKs eligible students. Create flyers for upcoming events. Establish best practices. Other duties as assignedDesirable Qualifications• Prefer six months experience creating video content• Prefer understanding of social media's ecosystem: trends, hashtags, music usage, functionalities, guidelines, and platform updates• A passion and interest for creating compelling brand stories that are engaging with fellow and prospective Taft College students • Prefer ability to write copy content, edit copy, and proofread own work • Must be able to manage time and schedule • Native social media userRequirements: Student must be an EOPS/CARE/NextUp/CalWORKs student with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher. Currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 units with Taft College. Student must remain in good standing and enrolled in courses during assignment.
