Senior Litigation Attorney Position with Partnership TrackIs this the role you are looking for If so read on for more details, and make sure to apply today.Seeking a senior litigation attorney to head the litigation department of our growing trusts and estates practice in which to grow and eventually become a partner. Our office handles a variety of complex probate matters which require advocacy in probate, state and federal courts, in Connecticut. The associate will work under the direction of Charles Kurmay, the Firm's founder, retired Probate Judge and Probate Court Administrator, F. Paul Kurmay, as well as our senior associate, Jamie L. Ottaviano.Job DescriptionThe ideal candidate will have the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team. They will consistently produce high quality work product with substantial attention to detail in order to achieve long term client goals. They should be able to work independently and manage their time productively, although support and mentoring is always available and questions are encouraged. The associate filling this position will have a proven track record of exercising sound judgment.Necessary RequirementsThe ideal candidate must possess at least five (5) years prior experience and possess strong drafting, brief writing skills as well as possess a strong courtroom presence. Admission to the Connecticut State bar is required. Admission to the federal bar is preferred. Current or former Government employment is considered to be an asset.Necessary SkillsExcellent written and interpersonal skills; The ability to rapidly comprehend complex matters and develop strategy accordingly; Significant organizational and time management skills; The ability to organize and analyze voluminous records and to be able to use them in court proceedings; knowledge and experience in Probate administration and estate planning; and proficiency with technology to maintain, update and modify documents as needed.Associate responsibilitiesDevelop individual matters assigned to them from beginning to end in order to achieve a successful result for the client(s). Actively participate in client meetings and strategy sessions. Prepare for and conduct depositions, motion hearings, and trials. Draft motions, and briefs, as is necessary.Work HoursThe working hours generally fall in the range of forty-five (45) to fifty (50) hours per week.
