Academy Bus is seeking a full-time hands-on Diesel Bus Maintenance Manager for south Orlando, FL facility. As the Diesel Bus Maintenance Manager you will manage a team of mechanics, body repair technicians, paint technicians, cleaning crew, and oversee the operations of a diesel bus maintenance garage as well as upstart a retail body repair and paint shop operation. You will be hands-on with repairs and on-going training and development of your team.Responsibilities:Train and supervise auto body repair technicians, paint technicians, diesel mechanics, and cleaning staff.Hands-on maintenance of assigned bus fleetRepair, troubleshooting and diagnosis of modern tour bus engines and transmissionsReconditioning, preventative and routine maintenanceInspections and road testsWarranty and repair documentationDiagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly and cleaning of components such as: Diesel engines, electronic systems/motors/controls, drive line components, tires, bearings, brake systems, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, oil/air filters, door assemblies, controls, belts, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages, radiators, heating, air conditioning, alternators, generators, voltage regulators, suspensions, seating, steering, and glass.Respond to road callsPrepare to beginOversee upholstery repairs including entire interior and lavatorySupervise wheel, tire and alignment shops and source local vendors as neededefforts to start up retail bus paint/body and maintenance repair opportunitiesGeneral welding/fabricationRequirements:7+ years of diesel engine maintenanceMust have supervisory experienceMust have own toolsProven ability to use hands tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, pullers, VOA instruments, reamers, vacuum and compression pumps, welding equipment, and testing instrumentsProficient in the use of diagnostic devices such as: DDEC readers, ATEC readers, SmarTire, schematics, AIC (Freon) recovery and charging equipmentWorking knowledgeable of paint and body repairs including bus structural repairs requiring welding and fabricationValid driver's licenseBasic computer skillsBi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus but not requiredCDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required, willingness to obtain a CDL License is also desirableHealth Insurance and Benefits Offered Include:Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription and Life insuranceSupplemental coverages401K planPaid time offPaid holidaysAcademy is EEO Equal Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
