MUSC Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Primary Care team. The APP will provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, with a focus on occupational medicine and employee health. This role involves direct patient care, collaboration with healthcare professionals, and contribution to the development of health partnerships within the industry setting.Fair Labor Standards Act Status: SalariedHours per week: 40 hoursScheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday Friday 8a-5pPatient Population Focus: OutpatientPatient Population Age Range: 13 years-death Required Training and Experience Required Minimum Training: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant or completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and currently licensed or eligible for licensure as an APRN as noted below.Physician AssistantorAPRN AGPNP/ANP (Adult Gerontology Primary Care NP or Adult NP): Adult pts (13 years to death), stable chronic disease state management or primary care setting.FNP (Family NP): (birth to death) Stable chronic disease state management, primary care across the lifespan.Preferred Experience: Experience in an occupational and primary care setting.Additional certifications in occupational health, student health, or related areas.Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and compliance.Prior Occupational Health experience as a provider.DOT Certification preferred.Degree of Supervision: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or Physician Assistant, will be assigned a Primary Supervising/Collaborating Physician employed by MUSC and will report directly to this physician.Required Licensure, Certifications, RegistrationsAll certifications must be current and complete prior to start date:Basic Life Support (BLS).DHEC and DEA license applications must be initiated prior to first dayJob Duties Provides direct care to patients through the following activities:Takes comprehensive history and performs physical examinationsEvaluates and treats on the basis of history, physical examination, radiological, laboratory, and other diagnostic test results pursuant to the practice agreement or scope of practice guidelinePerforms the following therapeutic procedures in accordance with procedural privileges, skill and proficiency as approved by the Supervising/Collaborating Physician CryotherapyIncision and drainage of woundsSimple skin biopsiesIntramuscular, subcutaneous and other advanced injectionsInitiates referrals to other health care providers, and/or consults with the attending physician or the collaborating physicianDocuments and bills for direct care providedUtilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practicePerforms and participates in quality/performance improvement activities and clinical researchParticipates in and supports accreditation, compliance, and regulatory activities of the organizationDemonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing educationPotential to precept students at MUSC enrolled as an advanced practice provider student; and facilitates the learning of other new team membersAPRN or PA must maintain licenses, certifications, CNEs/CMEs, etc. as required by applicable policies and state lawJob Duties continued Clinical Care Provide high-quality primary care services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.Conduct occupational health assessments, pre-employment physicals, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses.Offer health education and preventive care to promote overall wellness. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs. Occupational Health Perform occupational health evaluations and screenings.Manage occupational injuries and illnesses, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.Collaborate with employers to develop and implement workplace wellness programs and health policies.Conduct workplace visits and on-site health assessments as needed. Collaboration and Partnership Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences.Develop and maintain partnerships with university departments, local healthcare providers, and community organizations.Engage in research and quality improvement initiatives related to occupational health and student wellness. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters and care plans.Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.Participate in the development of clinic policies and procedures.Contribute to the training and mentorship of students and staff. Completion of an approved US DOT FMCSA MRCME training program and successful passing of the NRCME certification examination within six months of hirePhysical RequirementsContinuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking, and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see, and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
