Thompson Pipe Group is now the largest and most diverse drainage, sanitary, pressure and trench-less pipe provider, with manufacturing locations across the country and serving not just the US but all North America.Thompson Pipe Group is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, and maintain mechanical equipment throughout the facility in a safe and productive manner. Part of this includes doing preventive maintenance on equipment, changing outwear parts, and recording of damage or misuse of equipment.Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour, based on experienceShift: 5AM – 3:30PM, 1st ShiftFull-Time, Overtime AvailableEssential duties and responsibilities: Participate in safety programs Repair and maintain air compressors, dryers, trucks, forklifts and pallet jacks. Assists with installation of new equipment. Maintain all job site equipment in a good, clean, orderly condition and reports all deficiencies to supervisor Maintains and cleans equipment, performs required inspections, completes paperwork, and assumes accountability Dismantle equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, Follow OSHA and HAZMAT rules and regulations Takes proactive steps to make improvements to plant equipment and processes. Follows standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to supervision as necessary. Recommends improvements in maintenance methods, working to reduce cost of replacement/repair whenever possible Lubricate & clean parts Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery, determine repairs and discuss with Head Mechanic for approval and repair as needed Ability to operate welder, cutting torch, electrical/power and manual hand tools for repairs. Be able to fix minor electrical problems This position will require overtime during planned maintenance outages and during plant outages. Reads, understands, and applies information such as lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, pre-job briefings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Qualifications: Understand basic electrical and hydraulic schematics Properly use tools like electrical meters, hydraulic gauges, and lifting equipment Capable of lifting 50 pounds Welding/fabrication experience Must know how to safely work around and with heavy equipment/object Able to measure accurately with calipers, feeler gauges, and tape measures Be willing to do some out of town travel (usually less than 5 days per trip) Be able to work 40+hours per week Experience: Relevant: 1 year (Preferred) Manufacturing environment: 3 years (Preferred) Forklift Driving: 3 years (Preferred) Repairing Forklifts weighing 5,000lbs-80,000lbs Repaired Heavy Equipment: Cranes Welding: 3 years (Preferred) Ability to arc welding and cutting torch experience Service Tech: 3 years (Preferred) Ability to read simple electrical / mechanical drawings Communicates effectively Physical requirements and working conditions: Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and will be exposed to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, confined spaces, elevated areas, dirt Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. occasionally* Must be able to sit for extended periods Must be able to work on feet for extended periods* Must be capable of using protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses/goggles, safety shoes, hearing protection, air masks, respirators, etc. in the performance of job duties* * All employees are required to comply with the Substance Abuse policy, which includes but is not limited to a post-offer drug screen and physical examination* Takes the initiative to get things done What We Offer: Top-tier Medical, Dental, and Vision Benefits Life and Supplement Life Company Matched 401K Retirement Plan Paid Holidays Fun Events Training and Development Employee Discounts Career Opportunity!
