Position Summary The General Dentist provides comprehensive dental care to adult and pediatric patients in a community health center setting. This position requires a minimum of two years of clinical experience and the ability to practice independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is clinically confident, mission-driven, and comfortable managing a full patient schedule while supporting the goals of a safety-net dental program. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planningDeliver a full scope of general dentistry services, including:Preventive care (exams, fluoride, sealants)Restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns)Simple and surgical extractionsEndodontic and limited prosthodontic procedures, as appropriateManage dental emergencies and urgent care visits independentlyProvide high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with FQHC and regulatory standards Independent Practice Expectations Manage patient care and clinical decision-making with minimal supervisionMaintain productivity and quality standards in a fast-paced community health settingServe as a clinical resource and mentor to dental assistants and hygienists as appropriate Patient Education & Engagement Educate patients on oral health, treatment options, and preventive careDeliver care in a compassionate, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive mannerFoster patient trust and long-term engagement in oral healthcare Documentation, Compliance & Quality Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic dental record (EDR)Comply with HRSA, OSHA, CDC, and Connecticut Dental Practice Act requirementsFollow infection control, sterilization, and patient safety protocolsParticipate in quality improvement initiatives, chart reviews, and peer review activities Required Qualifications DDS or DMD from an accredited dental schoolMinimum of 2 years of clinical experience in general dentistryCurrent or eligible Connecticut dental licenseDEA registration (or eligibility)CPR/BLS certificationDemonstrated ability to work independently in a clinical setting Preferred Qualifications Experience in an FQHC, community health center, or public health settingExperience treating Medicaid and uninsured populationsFamiliarity with electronic dental recordsBilingual skills (Spanish preferred) Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experienceEligibility for NHSC Loan Repayment ProgramComprehensive benefits package, which may include:Medical, dental, and vision insurancePaid time off and paid holidaysContinuing education allowance and paid CE timeMalpractice insurance coverageRetirement plan options Work Environment Mission-driven, team-based dental programModern dental facilities with strong clinical supportOpportunity to make a meaningful impact in an underserved community
