DescriptionThe NYU Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care (a nationally recognized division ranked in Geriatrics in US News & World Report), in the Department of Medicine, is seeking a full time Clinician Educator at the Assistant level.The candidate will provide inpatient clinical services for geriatric patients including primary management orthopedic patients, geriatric consultations and assisted with transition of care at our NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn location.Teaching responsibilities of this position include precepting and mentorship of geriatric medicine fellows, and residents.The NYU Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care is a vibrant program committed to improving the quality of life of older adults and caring for people in need of compassionate support and symptom relief from serious illness. We are also committed to the cultivation of the next generation's leaders in the field, and provide mentoring and support to assure optimal professional development of our faculty.Salary: $238,000-$248,000 annuallyClinical Role and Responsibilities:Perform inpatient and emergency department geriatrics consultations in alignment with the mission of the servicePreoperative and postoperative management of medical conditions in orthopedic patients in collaboration with the orthopedic teamEvaluate and manage consults addressing the key Geriatric Syndromes including, but not limited to, falls, delirium, impaired mobility, impaired cognition, elder abuse, multi-morbidity, delirium, and complex goals of care in patients >65 years old.Work collaboratively within a combined physician/ advanced practice provider consult team, as well as maintain close coordination with the Palliative Care, Neurology, and Psychiatry consultant teams also serving this vulnerable populationActively participate in the training of fellows, house staff, medical students, and other learners rotating through the service; contribute to fulfillment of the established curriculumWork to develop and maintain individual and service consult volume through collaboration with primary surgical, internal medicine, and emergency medicine teamsWeekend call will be equal and commensurateQuality and Metrics:Participate in quality improvement activities to evaluate the quality of the services provided based on defined outcomes (eg time to consult completion, effect on length of stay, advance care planning compliance)Maintain appropriate billing and documentation consistent with the standards of the Division and the InstitutionIndividual wRVUs should be consistent with regional norms defined and benchmarked by the Division based on Nationally reported dataQualificationsCurrent New York Medical LicenseBoard certification in GeriatricsStrong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills preferredClinical and administrative experience preferredApplication InstructionsPlease apply directly on Interfolio: A curriculum vitae and cover letter describing your interest, expertise, and professional goals are required.If you have any questions, or need additional information, please contact:Joshua Chodosh, MD, Director, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Palliative Care, Compensation Information:$238000.00 / Annually - $248000.00 / Annually
