We operate both a high-volume shelter and low-cost medical clinic for our community members in need. Our Veterinary Technicians play a vital role in the medical care and well-being of our animals—both those in our shelter and those in the broader community.Position Summary:Veterinary Techniciansupports both the shelter and clinic by assisting with medical care, surgical prep and recovery, diagnostic work, and daily treatment. You will work closely with our veterinarian and support team to provide high-quality, compassionate care for every animal that comes through our doors. The primary focus of this open position is supporting surgical procedures and visits to the clinic. We are seeking someone interested in working 5 shifts per week with our Team.Key Responsibilities:Surgical & Clinic Support:Assist with pre-op physical exams and prep for spay/neuter and other surgeries.Monitor animals under anesthesia and during recovery.Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and treatment areas.Educate public clients about post-operative care and wellness services.Shelter Medical Care:Perform intake exams and daily health checks for rescue animals.Administer treatments, vaccines, dewormers, and medications per medical protocols.Monitor ongoing medical cases and report updates to the veterinarian.Facilitate required record keeping in Shelter Luv and Clinic HQGeneral Duties:Safely restrain and handle animals of various temperaments and sizes.Perform diagnostic tests (fecal exams, SNAP tests, skin scrapes).Support humane euthanasia procedures when needed.Maintain a clean, organized, and low-stress medical environment.Collaborate with the team to ensure timely, compassionate care for all animals.Qualifications:Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)required; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered.Prior experience in a shelter, high-volume clinic, or veterinary practice required.Proficient in animal handling, basic procedures, and safety protocols.Familiarity with Idexx in-house diagnostic testing equipment and ultrasound technology strongly preferred.Knowledge ofShelterLuv, Clinic HQ,or other animal management software is a plus.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally rewarding environment.Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods.Passionate about animal welfare and our mission.Schedule & Compensation:Schedule is crafted around surgical and exam schedules.Competitive pay based on experience.Why Join Us?Working at AnimalKind means being part of a team that saves lives every day.
