File Clerk - Scanning The File Clerk (Scanning) position will be an employee of the Beckley VA Medical Center (BVAMC) in Beckley, West Virginia. The File Clerk (Scanning) position functions as an administrative member as part of the Community Care Service Line (CCSL), under the direct supervision of the Supervisory Medical Support Assistant, under Community Care Service Line Chief, in the Medical Director Service office. Some duties include, but are not limited to: Performs duties related to the receipt, intake, scanning, indexing, quality control, destruction, and transfer of health and administrative information in relation to community medical documentation used for continuity of care. Reviews medical records for other indirect patient care activities, i.e. consult closure, quality management of scans, validation of scan to record accuracy. Follows applicable laws and instructions regarding access to computerized files, access codes, etc. as stated in a computer access agreement which each employee signs. Protects data from unauthorized release or from loss, alteration, or unauthorized deletion. Coordinates delivery of community medical records, timely transfer/scanning of records into patient files, and notification of availability of records to ordering providers. Works in multiple systems and current computer technology regarding imaging applications, PC Fax applications, and numerous VISTA, CPRS, and Community Care applications.
