Teller I A Teller undertakes bank transactions and interacts directly with customers. A Teller is usually the first person a customer sees when they walk into one of our locations. This position will be required to work into a Saturday rotation. Essential functions, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Greets all customers and visitors when they enter the location lobby or approach the drive-thru Processes daily transactions including receiving deposits, cashing checks, accepting loan payments, and disbursing cash Identifies counterfeit currency Cashes checks and payout money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds Explains, promotes, and sells specialized products such as cashier's checks and prepaid gift cards Exchanges foreign currency Performs services for customers including ordering bank cards and checks Records all transactions promptly, accurately, and in accordance with bank procedures Answers inquiries regarding checking and savings accounts and other bank related products Assists customers in solving account errors or problems, providing account balances, etc. Balances currency, cash and checks in cash drawer daily; arrange monies according to denomination Promotes and maintains positive relations with all contacts, customers, and potential customers May be responsible for bank openings and/or closings May be required to work drive thru May be required to float to other locations Education, experience and qualifications: Education: Required/Preferred: Education Level: High School or GED Years of Experience: Minimum: One (1) year of teller experience required; customer service experience preferred License / Certification: Required/Preferred: Independence Bank Teller Certification within 6 months Additional Qualifications: Requires completion of Teller Fundamentals and Teller Level Up training within three (3) months Core competencies: Customer/client orientation Cash handling Oral communication skills Problem-solving skills Accuracy and attention to detail Situational judgment skills Ability to maintain confidential information Working conditions: Indoors, environmentally controlled. Mandatory vacation: Position requires incumbents to be off work for a minimum of five consecutive business days.
