Job Position: Pool Filtration Operator Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49503 Pay Rate: $15.00/hr Description: We're seeking Pool Filtration Operators for a local city Park and Rec Department. This is a seasonal opportunity with the potential to continue working in the Parks and Recreation Department through mid-November. Position Overview This position involves manual and semi-skilled seasonal work in the cleaning, maintenance, and operation of public swimming pools and related facilities. Work is performed under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Specialized training in water quality maintenance, equipment operation, and safety will be provided. Schedule Details Pool Preparation (End of May Start) Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Pool Season: June 6 - August 16Available Positions:1 Position: Tuesday - Saturday 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 2 Positions: Tuesday - Saturday 11:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. 2 Floater Positions: Tuesday - Saturday Either 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. OR 11:30 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. (If coverage is not needed at the pools, floaters may work in Parks & Recreation Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.) Opportunity for Extended Employment Before the pool season begins and after it ends, employees may have the opportunity to transfer to the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Laborer position, working: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Through mid-November (seasonal) Additionally, some positions may begin as early as late March/early April. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate pool filtration equipment and monitor water quality to meet health standards Inspect waterslides, diving boards, pool basins, and related amenities to ensure public safety Perform routine cleaning of locker rooms, showers, restrooms, and pool areas Maintain required logs and documentation for water quality and safety compliance Provide limited supervision to other seasonal laborers as needed Minimum Requirements Ability to read and follow fairly complex written instructions Ability to work independently with limited supervision Ability to perform heavy manual labor, including bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting heavy objects Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and interact professionally with the public Other Necessary Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Valid Michigan driver's license required High school diploma or GED required Ability to pass a background check and drug screen Must be available to work weekend days (depending on assignment) Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Paid time off On-the-job training Referral program If you're looking for a seasonal opportunity with the potential to extend into the fall and gain valuable experience in municipal operations, apply today!
