Kenai Refinery Crane Operator Position This is a temporary 1-3 month position for the Kenai refinery turnaround beginning in March/April 2026. You must be able to pass a 7-year criminal background check, and a hair follicle drug test! The Crane Operator is responsible for operating a mobile crane to lift, move, position, and reposition loads. The Operator controls crane functions by depressing buttons and foot pedals as well as manipulating levers. The Operator will be required to unload crane accessories from trailers or support vehicles. This position will be responsible for driving CCI's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success. CCI leads the industry in Safety, Innovation, and Excellence. Operate a variety of heavy equipment, with emphasis on mid-size to large crane operation, and proven experience on Mobile Hyd. equipped cranes. Operate like equipment in a proficient manner, as determined by supervisor(s). Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material by crane or other lifting/hoisting device. Operate cranes >65 tons in a proficient, professional manner. Operate other heavy equipment as directed to include loaders, manlifts. Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in a petrochemical facility or on construction projects in Arctic conditions. Select cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. Ability to analyze weather conditions and recognize hazards prior to the start of work. Must possess applicable training as prescribed by the company, client, and OSHA. Possess the ability to give and understand common hand signals and to safely connect to and lift equipment and materials. Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook. Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. Informs supervisor of any incidents involving injury, spills, equipment malfunction and/or damage. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of standard rigging procedures. Show a thorough knowledge of rigging devices and components such as wire ropes, chains, slings, hooks, sockets, thimbles, spreader bars, sheaves, pulleys and lifting equipment. Knowledge of the standard methods of safely rigging and lifting equipment and materials such as structural steel, pipe conduit, vessels, rotating equipment, heaters, etc. Knowledge of proper use and care for tools and equipment commonly employed on an industrial construction project such as chain falls, jacks, slings, chokers, shackles, clips, etc. Ability to read and interpret safety manuals and warning signs, drawings, specifications, rigging diagrams and lifting capacity charts for equipment and load carrying parts. Skilled in oral communication skills Ability to give and receive oral safety warnings, instructions, and task assignments. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to prepare a detailed time sheet/log of daily work assigning proper coding for invoicing purposes. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and severe outside weather conditions.
