This position is a long-term growth opportunity for an ambitious, career-minded Equipment Maintenance Technician interested in a career with a major manufacturer of consumer products. Summary: The Equipment Maintenance Technician is fully capable in equipment maintenance and is also skilled in related trades such as sheet metal work, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, electronics, basic pipe fitting and mechanics. He or she is responsible for diagnosing, installing, maintaining and repairing production equipment. Responsibilities: The following duties are considered essential to this position. Other responsibilities may be assigned. Install, maintain, and repair production equipment. The Equipment Maintenance Technician plans maintenance and repair procedures. This will include power, hydraulics, electric, and electronic control. Diagnose problems. Determine what repairs are required and determine the equipment, supplies, and skills needed to complete the repairs. Estimate labor required for assigned repairs. Requisition or make components for assigned repairs. The Equipment Maintenance Technician operates machine tools as required to install and repair equipment. Assist with the development of a preventive maintenance (PM) program. Suggest PM schedules for equipment and assist with implementing the plan. Document all work in a neat and legible manner. Ensure that all documents are kept in accordance with department procedures. Demonstrate good communication skills with other maintenance technicians and with production supervisors. The Equipment Maintenance Technician plans and installs new equipment machinery, wiring, hydraulics, and fixtures. Perform major equipment repairs using a variety of skills including sheet metal work, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, electronics, basic pipe fitting, and mechanics. Instruct one or more helpers. Train the helpers to improve their technical skills while they are under your supervision. Stay informed of new technology, methods, and materials for this position. Support and comply with all Suncast safety policies, quality standards, and housekeeping methods at all times. Suncast policies have been developed to ensure compliance with employee law. Technical training in two or more trades, such as sheet metal work, welding, electronics, pneumatics and hydraulics. Five years or more of equipment maintenance experience required. Requires occasional supervision. Workers exercise a moderate amount of independent judgment. They plan and arrange their own work, only referring unusual matters to supervisor. A wide degree of creativity is expected. This employee must be extremely versatile. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak to managers, supervisors, coworkers, and vendors. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form. Basic ability to use PC-based maintenance programs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, or kneel. This employee is also expected to communicate effectively with others and to use active listening skills. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. He or she will be required to work 25 feet in the air on scaffolding or high lifts. He or she will occasionally work in confined areas. Vision ability requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. This is a full-time position. Due to fluctuations in production schedules, this employee may be required to work additional hours to meet additional demands. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in a manufacturing facility. This will have seasonal variations in temperature and humidity, most notably in summer. Noise level is moderate for an injection molding facility. This employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Safety procedures must be followed to avoid the risk of electrical shock. Safety equipment will be worn regularly.
