The gardener I position is the first level in the gardener classification series. This position generally performs routine gardening and landscaping under general supervision. The distinction between this level and other levels of gardener workers is based upon the level and complexity of duties performed and the degree of supervision received and exercised. This is a summer seasonal position that will be assigned to one or more zone areas to assist in flower bed preparation; in the maintenance, planting, irrigation of trees, shrubs, turf, flower beds and hanging flower baskets; the cleaning and sanitation of the parks; and in general landscaping and maintenance of parks, municipal facilities, and roadways.Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesAt least 18 years of age with three (3) months of experience in greenhouse, horticulture, or landscape maintenance work, and use of associated equipmentAll applicants must possess and/or obtain:· Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.Additional Important InformationThe Municipality of Anchorage participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security E-verify Program.
