We are seeking a dedicated Administrative Registration Specialist to join our team in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. This part-time role offers a weekend package with hours from 7am to 7pm on Saturdays and Sundays, including a 35% pay incentive for weekend shifts. Job Overview The Registration Specialist plays a vital role in patient intake by conducting interviews, updating patient records in electronic systems, obtaining necessary consents, and ensuring data accuracy. This position involves close collaboration with various departments and provider offices to facilitate smooth patient registration and billing processes. Key Responsibilities Interview patients in person or by phone to collect required information for hospital and clinic records as well as billing systems. Register or pre-register scheduled patients for inpatient admissions, outpatient services, and clinic visits following departmental policies. Maintain accuracy by resolving system errors and warnings related to admissions by the end of each shift. Run insurance eligibility checks on all appropriate admissions. Scan and manage documents using general scanning software. Verify insurance coverage and notify relevant parties if pre-certification is incomplete. Determine upfront payments or co-payments based on insurance information or financial counseling guidance. Request and log payments from patients or family members, issue receipts, and prepare recap sheets. Maintain accurate petty cash balances daily. Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, filing, faxing, and scanning. Assist patients with billing inquiries and payment processing at registration locations. Ensure regular and reliable attendance and meet physical demands of the role. Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required. Proof of completion of a Mandatory Reporter course at hire or within six months of start date is required. Proficiency with personal computers and familiarity with inpatient and outpatient hospital insurance claims filing and reimbursement principles is preferred. Ability to operate standard office equipment effectively. Requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare staff.
