Reports To: Building PrincipalsConsults With: High school staff, parents, students, transportation department, centraloffice staff, staff from other buildingsPosition Goal: To complete the detail and written work and to coordinate other mattersessential to the efficiency and effectiveness of the building.Performance Responsibilities:. Attendance is necessary to be successful in this position.• Issues absence and tardy slips to students during the day.• Provides attendance information to the guidance counselors and principal.• Supervises the collection of attendance reports from the classroom.• Supervises the keeping of daily attendance sheets.• Confers with parents on daily absences and makes home calls when necessary.• Supervises the keeping of tardiness records.• Consults with students on tardiness, reminding them of penalties when necessary.• Consults with students in matters of attendance and tardiness and makes every effort to gain their cooperation. • Refers to the principal those cases of chronic absenteeism, tardiness, or truancy that have proved unresponsive to counseling. • Prepares admission slips for students returning to school after absence.• Receives and processes telephone calls. Answers and directs calls, takes messages, relates them properly. • Operates computers, word processors, calculators, copiers, and facsimile machines.• Obtains, gathers, and organizes pertinent data as needed and puts it into usable form.• Maintains a regular filing system, as well as a set of locked confidential files, and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence as instructed. • Upon request of parent(s), send out assignment sheets and gather books for student(s) absent. • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and work during constant disruptions and distractions. • Generates correspondence to parents regarding "seven-day" absence letter, "ten-day" contract letters, and "broken" contract letters. • Issues and maintains off campus passes, and issues detention to students returning passes late. • Prepare end-of-year reports.• Performs other duties as assigned.Terms of Employment: Ten month position. Wages schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education or through the collective bargaining process, where one exists.Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
