Overview The Work: The Italian Language Translator will deliver high-quality translation services to individuals facing language barriers. Our focus will cover a range of areas, including Education, Legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate translations of spoken interactions such as lectures, conversations, and meetings. Leverage technology to assist in transcribing spoken English in specific environments. Translate written documents from the original language to English with precision. Edit translated materials to ensure clarity and accuracy. Maintain cultural sensitivity to the nuances of both the source and target languages throughout the translation process. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Qualifications - Here's What You Need: High School/BA Degree or equivalent experience. Over 3 years of experience in translation or interpretation in Italian. Certification as a Translation Professional. ATA Certification and other relevant Translation Certifications. Experience working with State Departments, refugees, FDA, Health & Human Services, Medical, Legal, and Housing Authorities. Fluency in Italian. Ability to pass a background check; additional checks may be required depending on client projects. Capability to facilitate translations with discretion and impartiality. Strong proficiency in written communication. A broad knowledge base across various topics. Strong social awareness and empathy during interpretation. Cultural awareness for translation in diverse regions. Physical stamina for extended translation sessions. Excellent problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Acrobat. Highly motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships, both individually and as part of a team. Self-starter capable of working independently as well as collaboratively. Reports to: Deputy Program Manager Working Conditions: Professional remote working environment. Availability to be on-call; notification will occur within 48 hours of potential assignments. Ability to work in a seated position for long periods while focusing on a computer screen. Capability to develop and maintain a productive and professional workspace. Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including holidays and outside normal business hours as needed. Potential travel for business or professional development may be required.
