REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Designee EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Regular, full time FLSA STATUS: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: Provide educational leadership and building management that create a positive environment for learning and community relationships. QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree with emphasis in educational administration Valid State of Ohio Certificate/License for Principal Demonstrated leadership in education Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution Demonstrated leadership in educational administration or equivalent experience Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication Understanding of curriculum and instruction Understanding of developmental growth and impact on student learning ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Continuous Improvement Principals help create a shared vision and clear goals for their schools and ensure continuous progress toward achieving the goals. Collaborates with the staff to plan and leads regular meetings of the professional staff Understands and uses assessment data to evaluate and improve instruction Serves as a member of the district's administrative team Participates in professional organizations and activities Instruction Principals support the implementation of high-quality standards-based instruction that results in higher levels of achievement for all students. Develops, promotes, and ensures the implementation of curricular and instructional program Ensures student achievement Ensures that continuous improvement planning occur at the building level and supports the district's strategies plan Ensures the coordination of all building programs including instruction, drug and alcohol, technology, academically talented, guidance and counseling, special education, library/media, student services, intervention and health School Operations, Resources and Learning Environment Principals allocate resources and manage school operations in order to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Oversees the daily operation of the school program Works with the Department of Human Resources to select, appropriately assign, and encourage professional growth of new staff members Supervises and maintains student record keeping procedures related to attendance, assessment, student progress, health and emergency data Ensures safety, health and welfare of students and staff Directs and monitors the building budget and collect designated fees Ensures and coordinates maintenance housekeeping and security of facilities and property Communicates all personnel issues to the Assistant Superintendant and Department of Human Resources Collaboration Principals establish and sustain collaborative learning and shared leadership to promote student learning and achievement of all students. Works with staff to create a positive environment Assumes such other responsibilities and performs other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent. Parents and Community Engagement Principals engage parents and community members in the educational process and create an environment where community resources support student learning, achievement and well being. Serves as a key communicator between the school and the community Works with parent/teacher groups in support of the total school program REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to lead and motivate staff and students.
