Position Type: Support Staff/Teacher Assistant Date Posted: 2/19/2026 Location: Willcox High School Position Purpose - Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives, and to free certified professional employees from non-professional duties such as proctoring study halls to enable them to make a contribution to other aspects of the educational program, such as curriculum development. Essential Job Functions Assist students with severe and profound disabilities in classroom tasks, therapeutic activities, and life skills instruction. Provide direct care to students including feeding, toileting, diapering, dressing, and hygiene assistance as needed. Assist students with mobility, including lifting, transferring, and positioning students with physical disabilities. Monitor and support students' use of assistive technology, communication devices, and adaptive equipment. Reinforce behavior plans, providing consistent support for positive behavioral interventions. Support students during community-based instruction, vocational tasks, and work-based learning, if applicable. Supervise students in all school settings, including playground, cafeteria, transportation, and field trips. Document and report student progress, behaviors, and incidents as directed. Maintain confidentiality of all student information in compliance with FERPA and IDEA regulations. Participate in training related to student needs, including specialized medical procedures, behavior management, and lifting techniques.Assists and guides students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills. Works with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning and implement assigned programs. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and specialists to support individualized education program (IEP) goals. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator. Assist students with physical or mental disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
