The Green Mountain Club (GMC) is a non-profit organization with the mission to make the Vermont mountains play a larger part in the life of the people by protecting and maintaining the Long Trail System and fostering, through education, the stewardship of Vermont's hiking trails and mountains. GMC is seeking a friendly, dynamic individual to work 1-3 days a week from mid-April to mid-October in our Waterbury Center Visitor Center, with the potential to continue in off season. Weekend and select holidays required. $20-$22 per hour. Great working environment. Responsibilities include: greeting visitors; assisting them with hike planning; providing education and up to date information regarding the Long Trail, the Green Mountain Club, and its mission; sales of GMC publications and other retail products; daily reconciliations of sales and credit card transactions; answering phone calls and e-mail inquiries; processing and fulfilling online orders; staff after hours events as needed; opportunity to develop and lead educational programing. Qualifications: excellent customer service skills; computer proficiency; hiking experience, personal knowledge of local hiking trails and public speaking desirable; flexible schedule preferred.
